Start with a topic booster if your child needs paper practice, works best offline, or has a parent with little time to sit nearby. Start with CoreMark Coach if your child is in Cambridge Lower Secondary Stage 9 and needs teaching, not just more questions. Coach costs ₹9,999 per stage per academic year, as of 20 October 2026.
Disclosure: CoreMark sells both the topic boosters and CoreMark Coach, so read this as a seller's guide. We name the cases where boosters alone are the better buy.

Which one fits your child's situation right now?
Start from the situation at home, not from the product. The table gives our first choice for each common case. Where the first choice is a booster, that is usually because it costs less and needs no setup, not because Coach is weak.
| Your situation | Start with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Child is stuck on one topic and needs it explained | CoreMark Coach | Coach teaches one sub-concept at a time, uses a diagram where one helps, and asks the child to explain the idea back. A booster gives questions and worked solutions, but it does not talk the child through a topic. |
| Child understands the idea but loses marks on exam-style questions | Topic booster | Twenty questions with worked solutions give repeated practice of the same skill, and the child can see exactly where each mark was lost. |
| Child needs paper stamina and to sit at a desk with a pen | Topic booster | A printed 20-question PDF matches paper practice. Coach runs in a chat window on a screen. |
| Exam in about three weeks | Topic boosters for the weak topics | Boosters give a fixed set of paper practice quickly. Add Coach only if your child is in Stage 9 and one weak topic needs teaching, not more questions. |
| No reliable internet at home | Topic booster | Coach needs internet and a Claude account, and it does not work offline. Boosters are PDFs that can be printed or opened without a connection. |
| Parent has little time to sit nearby | Topic booster | A booster is done alone. Coach works best when a parent sets it up and stays involved, especially in the first few sessions. |
| Child wants to see the format before paying | Free Stage 8 Algebra booster | Try the free booster first to see how CoreMark questions and solutions look. Coach covers Stages 7, 8 and 9, so this is a preview, not a stage restriction. |
| Child is in Stage 9, needs help across several topics, and a parent has a Claude account | CoreMark Coach | Coach covers every Stage 9 topic in Maths, Science and Computing, gives fresh questions each session, and keeps a record of weak topics to revisit. |
If you are not sure, read the next two sections before you pay for anything. They describe the family who should buy only boosters and the family who should buy only CoreMark Coach.
Who should buy only the boosters
Boosters alone are enough for many families. If your child already understands a topic and mainly needs more exam-style questions on it, a topic booster is a complete piece of practice for that topic, and it starts at ₹249.
Choose boosters only, without Coach, if one or more of these describe your child:
- Your child can explain the topic but loses marks on questions.
- You want paper practice that can be printed and done at a desk.
- Your home internet is unreliable.
- You do not want a parent to set up an account or sit in on sessions.
You can try before you decide. The free Stage 8 Algebra booster shows the format of a booster from start to finish. If you are weighing paper practice against full past papers, our guide to Checkpoint past papers and topic boosters covers the trade-off in more detail.
Who should buy only Coach
Coach is the better first purchase when a Stage 9 child needs to be taught, not only tested. It works through one sub-concept at a time, gives an everyday example, and then asks the child to explain the idea in their own words. If the explanation is vague, Coach re-teaches the idea with a different example rather than moving on.
Buy Coach alone only if all of these are true:
- Your child is in Cambridge Lower Secondary Stage 7, 8 or 9, the stages Coach covers.
- A parent is happy to use their own Claude account, since Claude accounts are for adults, and to check in during the first few sessions.
- Your child will sit at a computer or laptop with internet for each session.
- You are prepared to pay the Coach price for a whole stage, not for one topic.
Coach is not for every Stage 9 family. If your child mainly needs paper practice on two or three topics, a booster does that for much less. Coach runs on the free Claude plan, and Claude Pro helps for long sessions, but Pro is not required. You can read more about the set-up on the Coach page.
How to use both in one week
If you buy both, give each one a different job. Coach does the teaching and the checking of understanding. The booster does the paper. The plan below uses one topic, and you can repeat it for the next topic.
- Monday. Open a fresh Coach chat, say "learn" and the topic, and work through the sub-concepts Coach lists.
- Tuesday. Ask Coach for a short exam on the same topic. Show your working on every question, and let Coach mark the paper once it has all your answers.
- Wednesday. A lighter day. Coach brings weak topics back for a quick review when they come up, so there is no need to force a session.
- Thursday. Print the booster for the same topic and have your child sit it as paper practice, with Coach closed.
- Friday. Mark the booster against its solutions. Write down each question that cost marks, and bring those questions to Coach in your next chat.
Start a fresh chat for each session, because shorter chats are easier to look back through. Keep Memory switched on in Claude settings, and if Coach seems to have lost track, tell it where you left off. Memory is a Claude feature, so CoreMark cannot guarantee that it saves every conversation.
What Coach keeps from the boosters, and where it differs
Coach was built as an extension of the boosters, so the habits carry over. It uses the same summary-sheet rules, the same marking style and the same common-mistake notes. A child who has already used a booster will recognise the way Coach presents a topic and explains a mistake.
| Feature | Topic booster | CoreMark Coach |
|---|---|---|
| Format | A 20-question PDF for paper practice | A chat inside a Claude Project |
| Questions | The same 20 questions in the PDF | Fresh questions each session, as many as your Claude plan allows |
| Offline and printing | Works offline and prints | Needs internet and a Claude account, and does not work offline |
| Teaching | Worked solutions, no conversation | Teaches one sub-concept at a time, then asks the child to explain it back |
| Marking | Checked against the worked solutions | Marks after the whole paper is submitted, with method marks and the first wrong step |
| Who runs it | The child, alone | The child, in a chat set up from a parent's Claude account |
| Price | From ₹249 per topic | ₹9,999 per stage per academic year, as of 20 October 2026 |
The biggest practical difference is the ending. A booster stops at 20 questions, and once they are done, the child needs another booster. Coach keeps producing fresh questions for as long as the session lasts, within what your Claude plan allows. The trade-off is that a booster works without a screen, while Coach does not.
Coach's marks are practice marks. They are not Cambridge Checkpoint scores, and the way Checkpoint is scored is explained in our grading system guide. When an answer looks wrong, ask Coach to show its working, and check the step against the booster solution where you have one.
What ₹9,999 buys compared with topic boosters
Coach costs ₹9,999 per stage per academic year, paid once, with no subscription and no auto-renewal. The early bird price is ₹4,999 for the first 100 families. Each stage's file runs until the end of June, and then Coach signs off for the year. These prices are as of 20 October 2026.
Topic boosters start at ₹249 each. To compare, count the topics your child needs help with this year and multiply by the booster price. A family buying boosters for three or four weak topics may spend well below the Coach price. A family that wants teaching across Maths, Science and Computing for the whole stage is paying for something different, because a booster covers one topic and Coach covers the stage.
Coach is a paid product and it does not replace the paper practice a booster gives. If the money is tight, buy the booster for the topic that is hurting the most, and revisit Coach later.

Frequently asked questions
Yes. CoreMark Coach and the topic boosters were built to work together, with the same summary-sheet rules and marking style. A simple pattern is to sit a booster as paper practice on one day, then use CoreMark Coach between paper days to fix what the paper showed. The week plan in this guide is one way to do it, not the only way.
Yes. CoreMark Coach has a separate file for each of Stages 7, 8 and 9, each covering Maths, Science and Computing for that stage, and all three launch together. A file teaches only its own stage and politely redirects questions about another stage. The free Stage 8 Algebra booster is a way to see the CoreMark format first.
No. According to Anthropic's help centre, checked 20 October 2026, Claude requires all users to be at least 18 years old. So CoreMark Coach runs from a parent's account, inside a Claude Project. The parent sets it up, adds the Coach file to the project, and stays involved, especially in the first few sessions.
No. Coach gives practice marks and its own labels, and they are not Cambridge Checkpoint scores. A real Checkpoint result is a scaled score from 0 to 50 in six bands. CoreMark is not affiliated with or endorsed by Cambridge Assessment International Education, so use Coach to find weak topics, not to predict a band.
A topic booster is a PDF, so once it is downloaded your child can work on it offline and print it. CoreMark Coach needs internet and a Claude account, and it does not work offline. If your home connection is unreliable, start with boosters and add Coach once you have a stable time and place to sit down together.
Then start with topic boosters, which begin at ₹249 each, and buy only the topics your child is weakest in. The early bird price of ₹4,999 applies to the first 100 families, as of 20 October 2026. If a booster on the weak topic does the job, there is no need to stretch the budget for Coach.
